GRADE 8 students at a school in Morobe have been advised against getting married early and to pursue their education to the highest level.
Bulolo district education manager John Tjipet told grade 8 students at the Homopiri Primary School that some girls got pregnant and ended up getting married after completing their exams.
“Don’t get pregnant and married too early,” he said.
“Don’t use mobile phones to look for partners and get married or fall pregnant.
“Your parents have invested a lot of time and resources on your education. You have to repay them. So don’t make wrong decisions in your life. Continue to grade 12.”
Tjipet said students should not ruin their education at an early age.
The school presented 76 students with attainment certificates after completing their grade 8 examination on Thursday.
He urged students to do something useful during the Christmas holidays.
“There are three months left to the new academic year. Stay with your parents and work hard during the holiday for your school fees next year,” Tjipet told the students.
