A GROUP of 27 students has completed work placements with the Credit Corporation (PNG) Limited as part of Project Wok, a youth empowerment and job readiness programme.
Credit Corporation’s chief executive officer (CEO) Danny Robinson commended the programme.
“Our vision is to cultivate our own workforce for the future, and initiatives like Project Wok play a pivotal role in achieving this goal,” he said.
“Work experience and internships not only benefit the students but also contribute to our company’s success by identifying and nurturing talent.”
He said such programmes were important in bridging the gap between education and the workforce, helping students develop practical skills, professional networks, and a clearer understanding of their career aspirations.
The programme began in 2022 in collaboration with Project Yumi Inc, providing employability skills to secondary school students, facilitating a smoother transition from school to the workforce.
The students were hosted by various departments in Credit Corporation, exposing them to the real-world work environment and enabling them to test the skills acquired during training.
The hands-on experience was to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application, preparing students for the challenges of the professional world.
“We believe in investing in the development of youth today. By providing these students with exposure to our work environment, we not only contribute to their personal and professional growth, but also identify potential future leaders for our organisation,” Robinson added.
