Students, communities need support of churches, pastor says

Students need the support of churches and communities, says Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) pastor Nicholas Wapung.
“The students need the presence of the churches and communities because when we visit them, they feel special,” he said.
Wapung said this after accompanying 20 women with dishes of cooked food to Lumbi Primary School in Southern Highlands where they shared lunch and the Word of God with students on Tuesday.
Lumbi Primary School head teacher Simon Solu said it was the first of its kind where mothers from a church came to the school with cooked food and shared the Word.
Solu said students were happy and felt that the community cared for them.
“We are thankful that the church group came and shared the Gospel,” he said.
“Schools conduct religious education studies which helps promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of the students.
“We look forward to work with churches in the future, this is an eye-opener for the 300 plus students and 15 teachers who attended.”
Wapug said they recently visited Buiebi High School and Buiebi Correctional Services with cooked food and shared the Word of God.
He said it was one of the church’s vision and mission to help people in need such as the prisoners at Buiebi CS and the students.
“For the prisoners, they will one day return to their communities and will participate in community and church activities,” he said.
