COOKING, tailoring, assembling personal computers, table skirting, and dancing were some of the skills on display during an open day hosted by Caritas Technical College in Port Moresby.
Parents and the public who gathered for the school’s 26th Open House and Technical Day on Sunday were thrilled to see their daughters.
Acting principal Wilma Kalimet said the annual event was a reminder of the school’s co-existence which was to help young women be honest citizens through technical skills and academic knowledge.
“Our country needs skilled people. Through this event we hope to show you our dear parents and guidance, not only that the girls have the skills and talents but they are also competent for tomorrow’s work force,” she said.
“The technical skills and academic knowledge your daughters have acquired at Caritas will be a life sustaining in their future,” Kalimet said.
Several students told The National that practical tasks were interesting as they got to showcase the skills they learned.
