Students learn about scholarship

THE Morobe government officer responsible for the MPG Gerson-Solulu Scholarship was in Goroka and Port Moresby last week to conduct basic awareness and clarification on how the scholarship was administered this year.
Mainuwe Fanamu, project officer responsible for all scholarships, visited the Katagu Lutheran Teachers’ College, Goroka Technical School, University of Goroka, Jubilee University, Port Moresby Technical College, University of PNG, Pacific Adventist University and Don Bosco Technological Institute.
At Katagu Lutheran Teachers’ College, K280,000 was presented to Morobean students attending the institution. The funding was granted under Governor Ginson Saonu’s discretionary funds.
Fanamu explained that the students at Katagu were given preference for discretionary funding because they were not listed under the MPG Gerson-Solulu Scholarship.
He said Saonu intervened to make sure all their fees were completed before the final year students graduated this year.
“The school is set to be registered and will eventually graduate students this year,” Fanamu said.
