Students raise awareness on Covid-19

THE Catholic Church in Port Moresby organised another media education seminar for students to raise awareness on the Covid-19 and the environment.
Held at the Emmaus conference centre in Boroko on Sunday, the productions created by the students reinforced the precautionary measures circulated by the state of emergency controller and on the seminar’s theme: “Keep it clean. Go green”.
The students’ work was reviewed by Joy Mathew, principal of St Charles Lwanga Secondary School in Gerehu, Charlotte Vada and Robin Lesley representing Caritas Australia, Maureen Lesley, the Catholic Health Services communications officer and religious sisters.
The themes of the short videos were:

  • Recycling (Jubilee Catholic Secondary School);
  • Rubbish (Don Bosco Technological Institute);
  • Stop the use of plastic bags (Caritas Technical Secondary School);
  • Chemical usage on the environment (Marianville Secondary School);
  • A minute to save the earth (St Charles Lwanga Secondary School);
  • Before and after Covid-19 (De La Salle Secondary School); and,
  • Keeping the environment clean (La Salle Technical School).

“I was amazed at the superior level of presentations by the students. I couldn’t believe they were the work of secondary school students,” said Charlotte Vada of Caritas Australia.
