High Performance Sport PNG is calling on interested students attending tertiary institutions to participate in a talent identification and development programme next month.
The Kamapim Kakana talent identification and development programme is aimed at developing talent at the tertiary level.
It has gained a lot of interest from the institutions with a number of requests still coming in from those who missed out.
The next programme will be held on Feb 17 at the HPS PNG Southern region centre of excellence at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre from 10am to 3pm.
Interested participants should go in their appropriate sporting gear and take along a bottle of water for the day. HPS PNG dual career officer Edmond Bannick said the last Kamapim Kakana talent identification programme had an overwhelming response from tertiary institutions and students.
“Out of the 55 students from different institutions, 23 progressed to the 13-week trial,” Bannick said.
He added that their names have been posted on their High Performance Sport Facebook page.
Bannick said that each student must register with a fee of K10.
The programme will be conducted in Lae in March and those interested should contact the staff at the Mamose regional HP centre of excellence for participation.
