THE Government expects heads of departments to submit reports on what they did last year, says chief secretary Ivan Pomaleu.
“I would like to remind heads of departments to report back (by March 31) on what you did last year,” he said.
“(Later) I intend to meet with secretaries to ensure some of the key policy actions are mapped out early in the year.” It is part of an annual task involving reports on policy areas such as education, health, law and order, infrastructure development and economic empowerment.
Pomaleu, addressing public servants during their annual dedication service in Port Moresby on Friday, said it was an “accountability requirement”.
“And when the call is made for reports to be submitted, they must come in at the appropriate time for us to compile our reports to the Government,” he said.
“The 2024 work plan and programmes must begin now as there is so much to be done.
“The Government requires public servants at all levels to provide work solutions to policies in place.”
Prime Minister James Marape said Pomaleu and his team would revisit what happened last year.
“We will double check the expectations, match and make them congruent with our expectations of performance and results in 2024,” he said.
“All are expected to submit their reports, just as I have asked my ministers to finish their reports and submit them for checking.
“We are taking the first two weeks of this month to revisit what we have done last year.”
