Suburban 9s kicks off with 14 sides

 FOURTEEN teams will play in the Port Moresby Suburban League Nines competition at the Kone Tigers oval today.

The teams are: Pool A – Kaugere Pythons, Erima Hurricanes, Haveva Brothers, 6-Mile Tigers; Pool B – Morata Swans, JV Panthers, Waigani Cowboys, Boroko Easterners; Pool C – Kumaisa Faris, Junction Dogs, Brotherhood; Pool D – Asus Amiti, Steelers, Gabua Stones.

The competition will also be use to select a National Capital District side for the PNG Games in Lae.

Suburban League chairman Billy Aki said teams needed to pay their affiliation fee (K500) before taking the field.

He said eight teams had already paid and called on the remaining sides to settle by kick off.

Meanwhile, women’s league administrator Christine Unupite called on players to register for the Nines competition.
