Suburban comp sets deadline for registration

THE Port Moresby Suburban Rugby League has set Thursday as the deadline for players and officials to pay their registration of K50.
League president James Paul said the competition could not continue having games without players and officials being fully registered; he said it was a breach of PNG Rugby Football League competition rules.
Paul said the league’s executive cancelled the competition last week for all the clubs to pay player and official registration for their A grade, U20 and women’s sides.
He said the competition would continue to be suspended until all clubs complied with the requirements.
“As a PNGRFL affiliate we are adhering to the requirements of PNG Rugby Football League and to protect our members when they are injured.
“We are all aware that part of the registration component is for insurance.”
He added that unregistered players and officials would also be ineligible for selection in the Pom Suburban team to the Southern Confederation provincial championship.
