YOUTHFUL Sun City Cats face an uphill battle against the Dockers in Sunday’s Port Moresby Esi Loan AFL Premiership match of the round at the Colts Oval.
The Cats have consistently maintained fourth spot on the ladder with seven wins and four losses.
And with three matches remaining, the perennial battlers will need to win at least two of them to finish in the top-four.
They face a team who handed a 50-22 loss in their first encounter after an impressive start to the season.
The Dockers are second on the ladder with a 9-2 win/lose record and they appear to have better depth in terms of skills and quality.
The Cats have elusive youngster in Kelly Kaugla who is always a headache for his opponents.
If Kaugla remains focused throughout the match, the Dockers’ ball-runners will find themselves in trouble.
Kaugla should receive support from ruckman Gregory Mollen, rover Shane Jacob and centreman Leroy Showaileta.
Cats forwards Manu Michael, Gerard Fungke, John Susuve and Jackson must take responsibility to ensure that Kaugla and the team’s efforts do not go to waste.
The Dockers will be banking on Emmanuel Tupia, Wesley Yuwi, Archie Mai Jr, Colin Slim, Hosea Wartovo, Luke Savere Jr and Ignatius Roka to trouble the Cats.
In the other match on Sunday, reigning premiers Concept Koboni should have no problems disposing off Gerehu Magpies to maintain third spot on the ladder.
In tomorrow’s main match, Gereka Bombers should upset the Gordon Kokofas if they maintain composure and play as a team.
The women’s division heads into it second round of elimination finals with Concept Koboni look set to deny Gerehu Magpies from making the big dance.
In the qualifying final, the Dockers look set to earn the first grand-final berth over the Kokofas in the main match.
