THE Esi Loan AFL PNG Premiership will go into its third round this weekend at the UPNG Oval with the University Tigers and the MoniPlus Taurama Suns playing the main game on Sunday.

The Tigers, who are on the top of the ladder after two rounds, have a string of representative players in captain John James Lavai, Laurie Logo, Clyde Pulah, David Topeni, Jechoniah Peni and Max Lavai.

Last year’s grand finalist Suns have Raymond Vogae, Alois Mondo, Ben Tirang, Pasino Papau and Regan Bako, all eager to have their 2015 season off to a flying start as they search for that elusive flag.

Centre-half forward Jeffery Namete and full forward Ferdinand Musi are the key men for the Suns, who need to get their hands on the ball for their side to have any chance.

Suns coach Cornelius Papau said his side went through a week of intense training as they aim on keeping their competition intensity level high throughout the season.

“My boys have learned a new style that they are trying to implement this year and I’m happy with their progress so far,” Papau said.

“We tried it last week and we’ll do the same against the Tigers.”
