Support for Israel needed

Letters

PAPUA New Guinea and Israel have developed cordial relationship that underpins the rich economic and cultural backdrops of the two countries.
The innovative agricultural technology transfer to PNG is one of the many development supports from Israel that is already enhancing national development.
PNG is a Christian country having almost the entire population not mere followers but born-again believers of Christ who was the direct descendant of Israel.
The God we serve is the ancient Jewish god of Israel and the bond between the two peoples is enduring.
Memories are still fresh on what happened at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Dec 21, 2017, when Papua New Guinea decided to side with the world and condemn the United States for recognising Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel.
This time again on Dec 7, 2018, the UN has passed six more anti-Israel resolutions, including two denying Jewish ties to Jerusalem.
Reportedly, when voting on these critical issues relating to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, PNG either voted for or abstained from the anti- Jewish ties to Jerusalem resolutions.
Today Israel, as a nation, is in need of support from other nations around the world as it goes through critical times once again in history.
PNG should in the future make her position boldly clear when it comes to dealing with such contentious issues relating to the nation of Israel at the United Nations.
We should be either for it or against it, but not a fence sitter anymore.
