THE urban youth employment programme is gaining recognition and support from major business houses and individuals in Port Moresby.

This was shown last week during a graduation ceremony attended by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s wife Linda Babao and representatives of business houses.

She congratulated the 213 trainees who were awarded certificates at a time when jobs were becoming scarce.

She challenged them to believe in themselves and work hard towards achieving their goals.

UYEP business and marketing coordinator Mandy Ahuwalia challenged the trainees to be committed in any job offered to them and to work hard at it.

The urban youth employment programme is a government development initiative for youths in the National Capital District to gain work experience.

The work experience will help them acquire skills and prepare them for work.
