Suspect becomes State witness

A CASE involving a woman being in possession of dangerous drugs on Aug 2 was withdrawn by police prosecutors last week because she was becoming a State witness.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Peter Asi told The National yesterday that arresting officer Senior Constable Philip Otto had written to police prosecution requesting that accused Annabel Maxton’s case be withdrawn because it was through her cooperation the alleged suppliers were arrested.
Otto said Maxton would become a State witness.
Maxton was alleged to have been in possession of 5.81 grams of drugs, believed to be methamphetamine, after a police raid of her residence in Aug 2.
In a record of interview with police, Maxton alleged that she usually got her supply from Daniel Dente as her supplier, and Dente had alleged that Nicholas Frazer had supplied him with the drug.
Frazer, however, is facing other drug charges.
Magistrate Rosemary Koimo, at the Boroko District Court on Aug 30, told Frazer and Dente they would stand trial on Sept 18.
