ALAVANA Swans recorded their nine straight loss in the A-grade of Port Moresby Australian Football League competition, going down to Dockers 14-72 at the Colts Oval yesterday.
Swans remain at the bottom of the 10-team competition ladder without recording a win after nine rounds in the Moni Plus-sponsored competition.
Dockers scored 11 goals and six behinds while Swans only kicked two goals and two behinds in their 58-point loss.
Swans were under pressure from the first quarter as they were inaccurate in their passes and finishes.
Dockers dominated throughout the game, winning every contest as they played to their structure.
Swans coach Jack Dick told The National after the game that there was no coordination from his men.
“There is no link between our back, centre and forward line,” he said. “That is why we continue to struggle.
“We started the season very poorly. But we have shown some improvements in recent games.
“I’m confident that we can record at least one win this season. But we need to work on our communication in the remaining games of the season. Hopefully, we can break this losing streak.”
Dick said he was pleased with the performances of a few players despite the loss.
“I am happy with the performances of Collin Nicholas, Max Renagi, Gima Vue and Raka Vali,” he said.
“The four players tried hard to lift the team, but I think the rest of the players didn’t provide the support that was needed. I will make some changes and field some new players in the remaining games as we seek improvement.”
