A LAWYER from Switzerland has described his trip to Goroka as a memorable experience.
Walter-Peter Ludin arrived on the mv Europa with his wife and 50 other tourists, and visited Goroka.
“Back in our country, we hear so much about the mythical mudman here. To experience the real thing is amazing.” Ludin said he loved creating his own impression of PNG.
“Because I’m here now, I refuse to take photos. I want to feel PNG the way it appears to me,” he said.
“If I take photos and take them back, then it defeats the purpose of me being here in the first place.”
The ship stopped in Madang.
The trip for the tourists from Madang to Goroka was organised by the Melanesian Tourist Services and Goroka Trek and Tours. They were shown around by tour guide Busybee Kunjip.
Busybee said such trips could boost tourism in PNG. Among the 50 tourists were seven crew members of the cruise liner. Sebastian Grobe said he enjoyed visiting tourism sites in Goroka.
“I have collected a lot of photos and memories, which is enough to show PNG to the many people back home,” he said.
From PNG, the ship goes to the Philippines next.
