TAIWAN Economic Trade Office (Teco) has donated more than US$100,000 (K377,799) worth of solar light kits for a clean energy project to World Vision Papua New Guinea (WVPNG).
The donation was to assist in a clean energy project which is a collaboration between Teco PNG and WVPNG aimed at assisting families in Usino-Bundi, Madang, in order to complement the community work WVPNG is currently implementing in the Climate Smart and Inclusive Cocoa Project.
World Vision PNG national director Chris Jensen, when receiving the donation, said: “World Vision PNG continues to advocate for, and is committed to contributing sustainable efforts through integrated programming in climate resilience and sustainable livelihoods, ensuring that children and vulnerable communities are at the heart of World Vision programmes.
“Through the donation, 840 solar light kits will be given to cocoa farmer households with children and vulnerable family members as part of ongoing climate risk mitigation work and to provide children an enabling environment for education, learning and growth.”
