Take back Motu Koita

Letters

THE General Election 2022 has gripped the nation.
In about six weeks’ time, we should have a new Government.
All over Papua New Guinea, intending candidates are hitting the ground running to convince voters.
The 123 LPV (Limited Preferential Voting) is real right down to the wire.
We have to make an educated decision to vote wisely.
More so here in the Motu Koita (MK) urban villages.
Candidates please ensure that you address two issues relating to the plight of the MK constituents.
Firstly, enable legislative amendments to NCDC Act to give a 15-20 per cent share of the GST.
The Central government did it and we can do it through a Private Member’s Bill.
Secondly, enable legislative amendments under the Boundaries Commission for a Motu Koita seat in the Parliament also under a Private Member’s Bill.
MK needs a national solution in the two above that will create an enabling environment for the greater good for the MK people.
When this is done, it improves, enhances, empowers and enriches service delivery.
Right now, our MKA is being gagged under the pressure of the neo – colonial NCDC Act.
It’s time MK plays at the national level.
