PAPUA New Guinea Rugby Football League chairman Sandis Tsaka has praised Stanford Talita, pictured, for a solid Digicel Cup season — an achievement which has earned the Hela Wigmen centre a spot in the Kumuls’ 20-man squad.
Tsaka said Talita had been one of the most consistent performers all season during the Wigmen’s run to the grand final, where they lost to the Lae Tigers.
“Talita was a valuable asset who continued to produce impressive performances in attack and defence on the right edge for the Wigmen. He’s tough in defence and is a handful for the opposition in attack,” Tsaka said.
“He proved his worth in the team throughout the regular season.
“He helped steer the Wigmen to the grand final but lost to the Tigers.
“Having said that, All the boys selected in the Kumul squad are talented players from the Intrust Super Cup, NRL and Super League.
“However, Talita was the only player from the Digicel Cup to be selected in the squad and I’m proud of him.”
His form and combination with Terry Wapi, Edene Gebbie and Garry Lo will come in handy for the Kumuls when the face Fiji and the British Lions next month.
Talita was also a member of the Kumul squad in 2017 and 2018, and his involvement again this year will only improve his skills.
