Talks underway for Wigmen match in East Sepik

THE partnership between Sepik Pride and Hela Wigmen has seen both franchises discuss the possibility of playing one of the Wigmen’s 2021 Digicel Cup fixtures at East Sepik’s Pora Oval.
Pride interim project manager Bradley Simon told The National that despite them not gaining Digicel Cup inclusion, the Wigmen had continued to support them through their local leagues.
“Our relationship started last year when their (Wigmen) chief executive Patrick Wundai visited Sepik,” Simon said.
“That’s when he (Wundai) found out that the name of their sponsor Kroton was a plant (Croton) that grew in Sepik.
“They had been supporting us in 2020 when we were bidding for Digicel Cup inclusion in the upcoming season.
“After our bid was rejected, they (Wigmen) continued to support the Pride.”
