The National – Monday, February 21, 2011

A YOUNG and new comer politician, the member for Kokopo Patrick Tammur has outplayed all his fellow MPs.
No single electorate gets this sort of massive K125 million funding from the government since Independence.
New Ireland is waiting for K400 million of MoU commitments from the national government and so is Southern Highlands and Enga and here Kokopo gets it on a golden plate.
Do we have any mineral resources in the Kokopo electorate or for that matter has Kokopo contributed significantly to the economy of this country?
No, I don’t think so! Bougainville deserves the K400 million from the national government because PNG’s economy survived on the Bougainville copper mine before the crisis and this funding is a token of appreciation and this is considered fair.
Tammur’s actions might seem suspicious, unfair, however I congratulate him to secure that fund for his electorate.
He is a real hero; he has outplayed all the other MPs.
For the East New Britain governor to go against Tammur is a mere jealousy.
He should give Tammur a red carpet welcome at Tokua Airport for bringing in K125 million worth of projects to East New Britain.
To the other MPs, how about Tammur’s tactics! Or, you wanna just sit down and wait for your district development grants?
