TUFI Station in Ijivtari district, Northern will host the Tapa-Tattoo cultural show this weekend.
The show, launched last year, is expected to attract tourists.
Telikom PNG donated K5,000 to the show organising committee.
Head of the commercial division Amos Tepi said Telikom had worked well with the Oro government in terms of business and the funding was to show its support for the event.
“Looking at our support, we want to partner with our own PNG people,” he said.
“Telikom PNG is owned by our people and we want to support our people to stay together with our team. Telikom has always been there for our people and looking at our economy, it’s a challenging time but all we can do is support in a little way. We are with the people of Tufi, especially Ijivitari, and provincial government supports Telikom businesswise and we need to help those who support us,” Tepi said.
He thanked the member Richard Masere for his initiative and the organising committee for making it possible. Deputy chairman of the organisaing committee Stanislaus Ivahupa acknowledged Telikom PNG’s help.
The cultural festival was initiated in 2005 by chiefs in the Tufi local level government with the objective to promote their culture and heritage and share those values with the rest of the country and preserve their way of life.
