Tapo, we want less talk and more action please

I REFER to Education Secretary Dr Michael Tapo’s article requesting the public to report people who were misusing tuition fee monies (May 15).

While I appreciate his efforts in doing something to resolve this outstanding issue, let me make a few comments.

Firstly, secretary, you sound like a thunder without rain.

Therefore, I want you to shut your mouth and not waste anymore taxpayers’ money by going to the media and making more propaganda.

You have demoralised and discouraged concerned parents and citizens from giving you anymore information.

Let your officers from Waigani and the provincial education officers go out and collect these information for you.

We, the public, do not want to release any confidential information regarding this matter because this has backfired on us and compromised our security and personal safety.

You are fully aware that a hotline desk was set up at the FinCorp building in 2013 and called for the people to provide the same information.

However, after so many heated email exchanges with your officers, no one has taken ownership to tell the country and the people as to what course of actions your department has taken.

We are still waiting in vain for any official responses from your office to tell us how many people you have prosecuted and how many cases are pending.

We are still waiting in anticipation to know what cause of actions you will take and we firmly believe that is the only way to put a complete stop to people who are trying to steal or misuse school funds.
