PORT Moresby Vipers coach Leonard Tarum says his side’s performance in their 16-6 round-one win in Digicel Cup over Kimbe Cutters was not up to the standard of the competition. He told The National yesterday that their completion rate was below par. “I know it is not up to the standard of our competition,” Tarum said. “But the good thing is we got the two points, and it’s only round one.  “We definitely have time to fix those weaknesses going forward. “I also didn’t put pressure on the players. “I didn’t have high expectations prior to round one. “I knew it was their first game and such errors were going to happen.” Tarum said there were a couple of players who stood out in the win. He said he was happy for Port Moresby Rugby Football League and Butterflies product Simon Arana who scored on debut and earned the man-of-the-match award. “Simon played really well at five-eighth,” he said. “I think he will be a valuable member of our team this season, so we’re looking forward to more good performances from him. “Our fullback, John Stanley, was really good under the high ball. “I was also impressed with another Butterflies player, Fedro Gene, who is our prop. “He ran hard and had an impact on our game. Another notable forward is our second-rower in Aaron Kamba. “Gene and Kamba were really solid in the middle.”
