Why tax incentive package?

Letters

Daily subsistence allowance (DSA) is an entitlement for teachers teaching in remote registered schools in a province.
It is an incentive package created by the National Education Department (NDOE) and recognised by the Teaching Service Commission (TSC).
It is basically, to encourage teachers to take up teaching positions and serve in remote schools.
DSA is non-taxable component.
However, NDOE has taxed teachers receiving the allowance yearly.
DSA is not a pay increase or pay rise adjusted onto a teacher’s salary which lawfully can be taxed.
Teachers in registered remote schools have the legitimate right to receive the allowance non-tax able.
This is taking into consideration the lack of basic government services and other hardships encountered, while bringing basic education to remote schools.
Please NDOE, leave DSA.
Pay the promised three per cent increment for teachers and get your tax from it.
