Taxes to carry budget

 THE National Research Institute (NRI) says 81 per cent (or K11.3 billion) of the country’s total revenue for this year will come from taxes. 

Senior research fellow Dr Osborne Ogis Sanida when presenting an analysis on the 2015 National Budget, said tax revenue represented a 15.3 per cent increase from last year’s figure.

“The tax revenue comprises taxes on income and profits (74 per cent of total taxes), domestic taxes on goods and services (18 per cent) and taxes on international trade (7.7 per cent). The second highest component (11.5 per cent or K1.6 billion) is grants and infrastructure tax credit scheme.
