Teacher faces sodomy charge

A SCHOOL head teacher is facing a charge of sodomy after an alleged affair with a student.
Gesai Faroc, the head of Salamaua High School in Morobe, appeared in court last week and has been remanded at Buimo prison.
Police alleged that Faroc, 60, from Siririo village, Pindiu, Finschhafen, had an affair with a 17-year-old student on Sept 23 at his home.
His wife reported the matter to police.
Faroc will reappear in court on Oct 18.
Lae metropolitan commander Iven Lakatani had last Wednesday warned parents to keep a close watch on their children.
Provincial education advisor Murika Bihoro had earlier warned teachers to conduct themselves appropriately at all times and to never compromise their positions.
