Ann Tep, a teacher at Papa Primary School in Central, who took a K1,600 loan on Sept 25, said it was the perfect Christmas gift, which would go towards her four children’s school fees next year.
PMB chief executive officer Anthony Dela Cruz presented the cheque to her in an event that coincided with the bank’s closing Christmas party.
PMB is a subsidiary of the National Development Bank. Cruz said the bank would introduce a K500 weekly winner’s prize next year under the same promotion.
He said anyone could apply for a KD loan for a minimum of K500.
“As long as they have a savings account with us with least K500, they are eligible for a KD loan.
“The loan which can be funded or issued right on the spot in 20 minutes, they just come to the bank and apply and they get the loan immediately,” Cruz said.
“We realise that we should make this product more attractive to as many Papua New Guineans as much as possible.
“We are happy that through these promotions and policies, we can attract those who have not experienced banking.
