TEACHERS must keep in mind that they are part of the country’s development, the general secretary of PNG Teachers Association (PNGTA) Ugualibu Mowana said.

In his international Teachers Day message to 40,000 teachers, he said that they should be mindful about their contribution.

He said teachers should be thankful to the Government’s commitment to education and particularly to them.

He said the Government was committed to the welfare of teachers and they should appreciate that by contributing meaningfully.

The international day was observed yesterday.

He said the day was to recognise the effect of teachers and their hardship and challenges associated with their profession.

Mowana said the teachers’ contribution to the government would be for them to provide quality teaching.
