Teachers from institutions told to choose

TEACHERS teaching at higher education institutions (HEI) in the country were told to decide on what they will do after the HEIs were transferred to the Department of Higher Education Science Research and Technology (Dherst). Teaching Service Commission chairman Samson Wangihomie said those institutions had been transferred from the Education Department to Dherst. “We are now calling on the teachers in those institutions to start planning because the minister’s comment about staffing was for the teachers to decide whether to move onto Dherst, they resign if they wish to, or they remain with TSC so that we can have them deployed elsewhere, like in high schools or secondary schools for the teachers college lecturers,” Wangihomie said. He asked teachers to start thinking now and not to make last minute decisions. “Teachers have to decide now whether to resign from the  Teaching Service Commission effective as of April 2022 or they want to remain as members of the Teaching Service so that we can have them redeployed into our schools system.”
“If they want to resign we can resign them, and they’ll be paid their full entitlements.”
