Teachers given more time for NID

The national identification (NID) registration deadline for teachers has been extended, according to Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra.
He announced that the deadline of March 31 for teachers to register for their NID cards was now extended to Dec 31.
“This extension will give ample time to all teachers right across the country to register,” Kombra said.
He is calling on all teachers to register before the deadline as there will be implications in 2020 for those who fail to register.
Kombra clarified that the resumption of duty summary sheet (RoDSS) for 2020 would require an NID number.
“We have to date assisted to register about 23, 000 teachers,” he said.
“I am calling on those who are yet to register to do so.”
Kombra said information would be published in the media soon for teachers to make use of the coming term holiday to register.
He called on all school principals and inspectors to ensure that teachers completed the registration.
Kombra said there would be specific instructions given for terms one and two holidays, to ensure that more teachers registered for their NID birth certificates and cards.
These instructions and other information regarding the registration will be put out in the media for teachers soon.
“I am calling on those who are yet to register to do so, but after 3pm and onwards,” Kombra said.
“They are advised to go to selected centres in the respective provinces where they are teaching in order to register.
“Principals and school inspectors are asked to assist the teachers to ensure that they complete their registration.”
