A TEACHER at Sausi Primary School in the Usino-Bundi district of Madang is among five others who are in Port Moresby undergoing medical treatment at a private hospital thanks to their local MP.
Bunar Buli, 58, from Nagaha village in Madang, who is the head teacher of Sausi Primary School, said he was happy to be a recipient of the Medevac programme initiated by local MP Jimmy Uguro.
“I seek Modilon General Hospital several times and could not get help since there are no specialists to assist with my illness,” he said.
Buli was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate gland a common condition among older men which causes uncomfortable urinary symptoms such as blocking the flow of urine out of the bladder which lead to kidney problems.
He suffered for six years until he learned about the programme from Uguro’s electoral visit.
He said the programme helped him because many times leaders concentrated on the developments and other areas.
“I’m fortunate to be here, many patients in my area needed this type of help and are still waiting.
“I call this a life-saving project,” Buli said his condition had affected his work at the school and thanked Uguro for his assistance.
Buli said he was able to get proper treatment for his condition and his health would improve.
Usino-Bundi electoral officer Gilbert Biunak said five patients from the district travelled to Port Moresby to receive treatment at the Pacific International Hospital.
