TEACHERS, health workers and locals have fled the Tangu area, in inland Bogia, Madang, in of fear of the cult activities there.
A concerned parent, Paul Mamai, from Sereken, said teachers from Tangu primary school had fled, leaving students in limbo.
“Not only my four children but children from 14 Tangu communities cannot attend classes because teachers have fled,” Mamai said.
The teachers who left are from outside districts and provinces sent to teach at Tangu.
“They have genuine reason to fear for their lives because of what has happened. It needs the responsible authorities to take the necessary steps,” Mamai said.
Mamai and Theresia Dariki said health staff at the Biamb aid post were threatened by socery and killings.
“Witnessing such wilful act in broad daylight reflects the lack of law and order in 14 communities in Tangu area,” Mamai said.
Only the parents of the murdered Dariki brothers, Tumba’s wife Nuangnai and seven children are still living in two Sereken villages.
The rest of the locals from the two Sereken villages have fled to other villages to stay with relatives.
“We need to immediately set up a police post to maintain law and order in the area,” Mamai said.
“I say this because the cult activity has its roots in the 14 communities of Tangu  established six hausman, which need to be uprooted.”
