Teachers need competition

Letters

LOCAL teachers need tough competition to force them to perform.
As a concerned Papua New Guinean, I support Education Minister Nick Kuman’s approach towards addressing this issue of poor academic performance nationwide.
The drop in academic performance in our country is likened to an epidemic and our teachers are mostly to be blamed for it.
This initiative put up by the minister to bring in Indian teachers to teach mathematics and science subjects in our schools nationwide is a blessing from above.
Local teachers continue to show that they need competition to help them improve themselves.
If they want competition, then so be it, give it to them.
Children are the future leaders and elites of this great country and they deserve better.
