Teachers praised after national exams

EDUCATION Minister Jimmy Uguro has thanked teachers and officials for the successful completion of the national examinations despite the challenges posed by the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
“I thank everyone (for ensuring) that the examinations were completed without any major incidences.
“Currently, marking is in progress,” Uguro said.
He reminded everyone that schools must remain open until Dec 10.
“There will be no definite or indefinite suspension of classes by any school or province.
“Schools will remain open until the December 10, when they officially close for the Christmas festive season,” he said.
But he said the provincial Covid-19 taskforce or committee could assess whether to suspend schools in their areas for up to 14 days.
Any extension after 14 days must be approved by the department.
“There should be no decision by any provincial education authority for the suspension of schools for the rest of the year, until and unless the ministry/department is informed and an approval is given.
“Failure to do that will result in students’ learning and certification being affected.”
