SCHOOLS in East New Britain’s Gazelle launched a training application for their head teachers last month.
Gazelle education coordinator Mortan Luaina said that the Education Department came up with the initiative.
Luaina said that this was through the standard and inspection division for schools to use the application called “My school application” for data collection and information storage.
The application would be used by all schools in the country either be elementary, primary, secondary or tertiary institutions with the purpose of entering data and other important information for a particular school.
“All information for a particular school would be entered and stored online,” Luaina said.
“And these information can only be accessed through the school codes from the Department of Education to identify schools.”
Luaina said that all the elementary schools in collaboration with the 130 primary schools in the district had been given smart phones to update their school application online.
He said the number of students according to the application would determine funding for any school development.
Luaina said that the head teachers had been trained by experts to use this application online.
While the education coordinators would only facilitate on the ground in terms of trainings.
The inspectors were also responsible for sending the correct information for the particular schools in their respective areas.
