Team set up to deal with rogue officers

A STATE of emergency (SOE) discipline team has been set up by the National Capital District police to deal with ill-disciplined policemen during the SOE.
Met Supt Perou N’dranou said one senior officer would be commanding the team to investigate, arrest and charge policemen or officers who went out of hand.
He said the team would comprise of officers from policing-the-police-team, some members of the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and senior police officers.
Met Supt N’dranou was responding to reports of police officers smuggling betel nuts or taking them from incoming trucks and other acts against SOE orders.
He said they would be investigated and charged if caught, adding that officers who were smuggling contraband items were known to the investigating team and would be dealt with accordingly.
