THE Justin Tkatchenko Super Nines Cup men’s top 16 teams were confirmed over the weekend after the completion of round three of pool matches at the Moresby South Stadium in Port Moresby.
The semifinals will be played on Saturday while the grand final for senior men’s, women’s and Under-20 is slated for March 24.
The senior men’s quarterfinals and U20 semifinals were disrupted due to heavy downpour that flooded the Moresby South Stadium the previous weekend, and was rescheduled to last weekend.
JT Super Nines Cup tournament director Bagelo Solien said disputes over scores were settled over the weekend and teams for the finals were confirmed.
The upset of the weekend was a star-studded Koki Nauna taming defending champions Border Storms 8-4 in an evenly contested affair.
Nauna are unbeaten in pool C heading into the top 16 playoff on Saturday and made a statement over the win against Storm.
In pool G, Funeral Home Laumas were given a fright by Joyce Bay Roosters with a converted try in the dying moments but held on to clinch the match 10-8 and maintain their clean record. Laumas dynamic Justin Yoka, Emmanuel Herea, Andickson Yamason, Supa George and veteran Adam Korave.
