THE Oceania National Olympic Committee will be appointing technical delegates to help in delivering the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby.

This was confirmed during the 2013 ONOC General Assembly held at the Sheraton Denarau Resort, in Fiji, on April 20.

Papua New Guinea was represented by PNG Sports Federation & Olympic Committee president, Sir John Dawanincura and secretary-general, Auvita Rapilla.

“My presence there was to encourage ONOC to appoint technical delegates for the 2015 Pacific Games as we are ready to host the games.” 2015 Pacific Games chief executive officer Peter Stewart said.

“These technical delegates are to make sure that each sport follows and abides by international rules and regulations.

“At this point, the 2015 Pacific Games committee is working closely with international federations so that come 2015, all competitions are well run under international standards.”

Stewart said the technical delegates would help the organising committee and develop athletes as they geared up for the Games.

Before the assembly, the Olympic Solidarity regional forum and workshop was held from April 17-19 to bring ONOC members and regional sports federations up to date with the 2013-2016 Olympic Solidarity programmes.
