Technology and crime

Letters

The use of technology like computers and smartphones in Papua New Guinea has opened up new avenues for criminals to exploit.
We are now seeing a different kind of criminal behaviour, especially on the internet, with hacking, identity theft, money laundering, pornography, fake news and anonymous attacks on individuals.
The internet is allowing people to hide while they take part in activities that are criminal in intent.
The National Information and Communications Technology Authority has done a tremendous job by requiring all SIM cards to be registered.
Our movement on internet will now be closely monitored.
Any illegal browsing or hacking will be identified and the cybernaut should be prosecuted.
