A TEENAGER’S sexual penetration case will proceed to submissions on evidence after he was served his police file in court yesterday.
The 18-year-old, who attends Gordon Secondary School in Port Moresby, was charged with one count of sexual penetration against an 11-year-old girl at the Keasu settlement, located at Gerehu Stage Two.
He appeared in the Waigani Committal Court on a K500 bail and had his case adjourned to Feb 23 by Magistrate Seth Tanei.
On Independence Day last year, around 3pm, the girl was outside her house when the accused allegedly called her over under the pretext of sending her to buy him a cigarette. The accused allegedly grabbed the girl and pulled her into his house where he sexually assaulted her.
The victim was later released and reported the incident to the community who placed a complaint with the police.
The accused was then detained at the Gerehu Police Station.
He initially denied the allegation but later told police he had been drunk at the time and could not remember what he had done.
