Telco rolling network

PAPUA New Guinea has potential for a fourth mobile network operator, says Vodafone Fiji chief commercial director Ronald Prasad.
Prasad said PNG still had low mobile communications and internet penetration levels in the market.
He said Vodafone, which was currently rolling out a Greenfield network in PNG, would be operational later in the year.
“Why Papua New Guinea? It is an emerging market with great potential as the country continues its journey to transform into a modern nation,” Prasad said.
“From a telco (telecommunication) and ICT (Information Communication Technology) point of view, PNG ticks all the right boxes for us.
“It has a large population base and a young population with a medium age of 22.5 years.
“The current statistics on the ground indicate that only 34 per cent of the people have access to mobile phones.”
