Ten new Covid-19 cases reported yesterday, as 40 citizens arrive home

ONE case in Milne Bay and nine in Port Moresby yesterday increased the national total to 333, according to the National Covid-19 Control Centre.
The first Milne Bay case is an 18-year-old woman who has not travelled out of the province recently.
Her sample taken at the Alotau General Hospital tested positive at the PNG Institute of Medical Research laboratory.
The other nine cases are from the National Capital District.
Meanwhile 40 Papua New Guinean citizens including students stranded in China arrived home on Sunday and are now observing the 14-day quarantine in Port Moresby hotels.
National Covid-19 Control Centre incident manager Dr Esorom Doani told The National that the 40 were happy to be back home.
“The ban on flights to China remains.
“The flight on Sunday was to bring Papua New Guineans back home,” he said.
“Both the repatriation and quarantine of the 40 were funded by the Government through the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.”

  • Why pu them up in Hotels, yumi nogat moni, the covid center at Rita Flynn is a joke. Set up tents on Gemo Island and islolate them there for 2 weeks

  • Our Tax Payers are paying for their repatriation and hotel expenses.
If you have the money to travel overseas for work, studies and etc, then you should meet all your own expenses of coming home instead of being a burden to the country as a whole and its Tax Payers.
The cost to accommodate a person in the hotel in Port Moresby costs K8000.00 for accommodation, food and etc (apart from the cost of travel) during the two (2) weeks where they will be quarantine.
    What a waste of money.
    Maski lo Amamas, leeches!!
