Tenza calls for one Highlands to have tow confederations

THE Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) needs to create one more confederation in the Highlands at its annual meeting expected sometimes next month, according to sidelined Mendi Rugby Football League president Barclay Tenza.
Tenza said this was very important for the future of rugby league in the Highlands region and the country.
“It must be done at the meeting or sack Joe Tokam as its (Highlands Confederation) director,” Tenza said.
“I express this concern on behalf of the other 28 centres in the Highlands Confederation that are missing out on attending the election in March this year,” he said.
“In 2014, we had 33 affiliated leagues in the Highlands Confederation.
“Today, as I speak, we have five leagues affiliated.
“The Southern confederation has mushroomed to 14 centres.”
Tenza claimed the Highlands director’s office was well-equipped with new vehicles and funds but something was amiss.
“The league centres and home of the Hunters and Kumuls, namely Kundiawa in Chimbu, Minz in Jiwaka, Wabag in Enga, Mendi in Southern Highlands and Hela have not affiliated,” he said.
“The director, using his wisdom, manipulated some unknown officials without my consent and organised an annual general meeting in Mendi, Southern Highlands, this year and elected an executive from the same street and same peer group youths.”
