Test crucial for Lions

GREAT Britain Lions coach Wayne Bennett says their test against the Kumuls is crucial and his side will approach the tomorrow’s game with respect for the home side.
It has so far been a dull Southern Hemisphere tour for the James Graham-captained side who have lost all their three tests — two against New Zealand and one against Tonga — since last month.
“All these games are important to us and we have been competitive in the last three tests against Tonga and New Zealand,” Banett said.
“For this game, we just want to make sure we go out there and play the game to our standard and play well.
“Most important thing is respect, we have to realise who they (Kumuls) are.
“They have some NRL players and State league players. They are high-level competition now.
“I thought their performance against Fiji was outstanding and exciting to watch. They are entertaining and skillful.
“First and foremost is to realise that we are playing a football team with a lot of good players.”
Graham touched on his experience when England nearly lost to the Kumuls at 2008 Rugby League World Cup in Townsville, Australia.
He said his side could not afford to be complacent against the Rhyse Martin-led Kumuls. “I remember that game when we played them in Townsville, you could make up a case that we should’ve lost that game,” Graham said.
“You learn a lot from those experiences and you cannot afford to get caught off-guard and we are prepared for this game.
“They were physical against Fiji last week and we will be expecting that.”
The match kicks off at 5:30pm.
