VAILIMA’S two-game winning run will be tested tomorrow in the PNG Nambawan Trophy National Capital District  Volleyball Association competition when they meet pace setters U-Mi Yet in the women’s premier match.
Vailima is sixth and knocking on the door for an opportunity to squeeze into the top-five should they continue their winning streak.
Captain and setter Bala Liveras will be back with the team and will side up with Tina Numa and Karo Rupa blocking, Noeline Stanley, their go-to player, and Renagi Jack hitting outside with defensive specialist Lisamarie Wala opposite the setter.
Coming off the bench will be hitter Faye Tokona, blocker, Mona Konena and setter Priscilla Lopena. This team make-up is strong and capable of ending U-Mi Yet’s unbeaten run.
U-Mi Yet have Nope Karo, Ruth Adams and Cassie Ikilik blocking, while running the quicks are Helai Heni, Luana Travertz, Marie Oini, Carmela Gabina and Kala Unatah hitting outside and opposite the setter.
Elizabeth-Peti Unatah controls their attack and setting. U-Mi Yet’s strength will be their structure, which is backed by good skills.
After Dark will try to make up for last weekend’s defeat when they face an unpredictable Idubada, YWCA must have some consistency when they face a strong Scorpions outfit and Snipers should have an easy run over the Bullets.
In the men’s premier, Scorpions should prove too strong for Ela Motors, Vanama’s spikes should prove too hot for After Dark to handle, a tight contest is expected between Vailima and U-Mi Yet and Gabagaba will throw everything they have to cause an upset over competition leaders, Snipers, who are locked and loaded for another takedown.
In the women’s division one, an upset win by Gabagaba over leaders, Vanama might see the Motuans sneak into the top-five.
