Thank you judge for being fair

Letters

THIS is in appreciation of a fair judgment that was handed to an elderly woman at the Waigani National Court on June 3 at 4.50pm.
The decision was handed down by Deputy Chief Justice Ambeng Kandakasi.
I went to court room 9 to attend to my court matter and this woman came in and sat next to me.
She appeared before Justice Kandakasi and provided her statement in English and Tok Pisin.
Instead of the judge telling her to seek the services of a lawyer, he tried to understand her issue and make a ruling.
Instead of entertaining the other party’s lawyer’s request for adjournment, the judge told the lawyer to mediate with the woman and go with a remedy order to the court.
She was satisfied with the judgment and walked home with her grandchildren happy and relieved.
Justice is for all citizens of this nation and Justice Kandakasi did a remarkable job with this elderly woman.
I believe this is something we all could learn from.
Congratulations on a fair judgment.
