CREDIT goes to Finance Minister and Tari-Pori MP James Marape for committing K50,000 for maintenance of all buildings in the Dauli Teachers’ College, including lecturers’ houses. As a former lecturer there, I was shattered to see the current rundown state of one of the country’s premier colleges.  Lecturer houses were built by missionaries some 30 years back and definitely need renovation. I also thank the European Union for building new dormitories and for sponsoring students from remote areas of PNG to train them as teachers. I also heard that Marape wants to assist Daulo Hydro landowners to resolve their land issues and have the mini hydro running to generate power for Tari township and neighbouring villages. Again, this is welcoming news to the college as much of its budget has been consumed by fuel for generators. Thanks to the good minister for the timely assistance.
