A COMPLAINT has been lodged with police after a man smashed the front glass door of The National office in Port Moresby yesterday afternoon.
The complaint was lodged by the company at the Boroko Police Station, and entered by police on the occurrence book as a case of wilful damage to company property and unlawfully being on a company premises.
Delstar Security Services supervisor Roy Kone, in charge of security at the company office along Waigani Drive, said the man, believed to be the partner of a company employee, had been standing outside the gate waiting for her around 2pm.
When he saw a company vehicle entering the premises with her inside, he became angry when he noticed that she was trying to avoid him.
Kone said the man demanded that the guards let him into the premises to see her.
“He pushed his way through the small gate leading to the back part of the building. We had to go bring him back,” he said.
Kone said the man left but returned about an hour later with four police officers in a National Capital District Sector patrol vehicle (number plate recorded) demanding that his partner be brought out of the office.
The four officers later watched as he damaged the glass door.
Details of the incident and the police vehicle have been given to the police at the Boroko police station. Police said they were going to investigate the incident.
